   My name is Kathaleena Thirtle, most affectionately known by "Kathy." I identify as an artist, feminist, Art Therapist, Coffee Enthusiast, Mother of fur babies, wifey to a Brit, cheese sommelier (if that's not a thing I'm making it one), consumer of most things that have a fandom and all things Disney, friend to all, and aspiring grown up.

   I am an Orange County local, and received 2 undergraduate degrees in Fine Art and Philosophy from UCR. I think you'll find that the philosopher in me is often reflected in my work. After UCR it was my great honor and priviledge to go forward in my education and pursue a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with Loyola Marymount University. I graduated with a unique degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an Art Therapy Emphasis in 2019, and have since worked as an Art Therapist with specialized populations. Currently, I use art therapy with my clients ages 13-26 in order to help them work through various traumas. This work has been one of the singular best joys and most fulfilling pursuits I have ever experienced in my life. I'm still in shock and awe that I get to live this life, and be curious with my clients. Life is wild, my friends. I hope this reflects in my work as well.

   This journey that I'm on now started entrepreneurial, and I slowly learned over time that I'm happiest when I'm making art for myself or using the art to help other's develop insight. I firmly believe that healing, discovery, and curiosity comes not just from the product but from the process of art-making. There is something about mark-making and loosing myself in the art that words just can't capture - it's such a undiluted form of magic. My hope with my work, and perhaps with the work we might do together, is that we can share in that magic. I'm thrilled we've crossed paths, and that you're walking with me for a little while.
